Tengchong Beihai Wetland is located in the Beihai Town of Tengchong City, 12.5 kilometers away from the urban area; it was established to be the nature reserves in 2000, and then was approved by the Yunnan provincial government in January 2005 to be a provincial nature reserve, with a total area of 3.5 square kilometers, of which 216 hectares of wetland, which is one of the first batch of provincial important wetlands announced by the Yunnan Provincial People's Government in January 2016.

The unique and magical characteristics of the Beihai Wetland are embodied in the following six aspects:

1、 It was formed by volcanic eruption about 600,000 years ago and is the unique sub-tropical volcano barrier lake carex wetland in China.

2、 The annual average temperature of Beihai wetland is 14.6 ℃, with no intense heat in summer and no harsh cold in winter.

3、 The forest coverage rate around the Beihai Wetland is as high as 70%, and the average content of the negative oxygen ion per cubic centimeter is 3,827 and up to 38,000 at most, and PM 2.5 is less than 10%.

4 、There are many meadows floating on the whole lake in the Beihai Wetland. People call it grass row or sea row. It is composed of grass roots of various aquatic plants, which have been growing continuously for thousands of years. Its average thickness is about one meter, and the thickest place is about two meters. Rich and diverse natural ecological wonders form a rare "floating and moving prairie on the water" in the world.

5 、Beihai Wetland is very rare weak acid lake, with PH value of 6.8; the wetland grass row is very picky about the living environment, and it cannot survive even if it is replanted to other environment with the same PH value.

6 、The Beihai Wetland is a rare "species gene pool" formed over hundreds of millions of years in the world. The "species gene pool" has bred 380 species of plants; including 159 species are aquatic plants; and 190 species of terrestrial wildlife, including 125 species of birds.

      Tengchong Beihai Wetland, as one of the four major tourism cards ofTengchong, has received a number of national leaders to visit the wetland, a number of national television media and celebrities to explore the wetland. The scenic spot receives more than 600,000 tourists each year, bringing visitors fresh and unique experiences and feelings.
